Ornate Antique English Sewing Chatelaine5 Attachments * Circa 1890
This lovely chatelaine is made of a golden colored metal and has 5 chains and attachments. The elegant waist plaque has openwork scrolls with floral and acanthus leaf decorations. The link chains have open scroll and leaf designs and spring clips at the ends. The tools all have repoussé floral & scroll designs. They include a scissors sheath with scissors, an aide memoire (notebook),
a slide out pencil,
a pin cushion and a little covered round mirror.
The scissors have beautifully embossed handles and steel blades and they are the style that would have been original to the chatelaine. The blades are tight with intact points and they cut very well to the tips.
They are 3 1/2" long and fit well in the velvet lined sheath.
The aide memoire has three flip out ivory colored pages. A wooden pencil slides out of the pencil case using the knob on the side. The condition of the chatelaine & all of the attachments is excellent with no dents or other damage.
The chatelaine measures 14" long from top to bottom and has a clip on the back to go over a belt or waistband.
