    Description

Here is a set of 20 quilt blocks in the Puss In The Corner pattern,
#1603 in the Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns by Barbara Brackman.  It is categorized as an Equal Nine Patch using squares.   Pattern was published in the Kansas City Star dated 1932.
Blocks are a combination of machine and hand piecing with each measuring approximately 10 1/2" square.  The fabrics are vintage cottons, in small prints along with solids.
These are constructed of five four patch blocks using three prints and one solid representing the "puss" in the corner.  The four solid patches are a thin white fabric.   Blocks are generally clean, although there is some brown storage soiling mainly on the white patches.
The block edges are frayed and at least three may need to be replaced entirely due to damaged fabric.
All of the blocks are pictured in the collage photo.
When working with vintage fabric, blocks, tops or quilts, prior quilting and piecing experience is helpful. Pieces were not rotary cut and cutting templates and patterns may not have been square. Pieced items may not be flat. Vintage items may have a musty or storage odor.
