Quilt Blocks Shoo Fly 54 40 Or Fight Set Of 24 Cotton Scrappy Fabric Nine Patch

Here is a set of 24 quilt blocks in the Shoo Fly pattern, #1645 as shown in the Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns compiled by Barbara Brackman.  Pattern is categorized as an Equal Nine Patch with specific construction.  Design is so named by the Ladies' Art Company, design #276.  This is also known as Fifty Four Forty or Fight, named by Nancy Cabot.
Blocks are hand pieced and each measures approximately 7 1/2" square.  Each block contains two different cotton fabrics from around the 1940s era.
Please note, one block has a tear along the seam line.  I believe it can be re-stitched to hide the tear.  Blocks are generally clean, although there are a couple with brown storage spotting.

When working with vintage fabric, blocks, tops or quilts, prior quilting and piecing experience is helpful. Pieces were not rotary cut and cutting templates and patterns may not have been square. Pieced items may not be flat. Vintage items may have a musty or storage odor.
